K= 1 why – Multiply all terms by k and cancel: 3+3k=8+−2k 3k+3=−2k+8(Simplify both sides of the equation) 3k+3+2k=−2k+8+2k(Add 2k to both sides) 5k+3=8 5k+3−3=8−3(Subtract 3 from both sides) 5k=5 5k/5=5/5(Divide both sides by 5) Check answers. (Plug them in to make sure they work.) k=1(Works in original equation) Answer: k=1
