What is the distance between points (9, 4) and (–3, 4) on a coordinate plane?

OpenStudy (meowlover17):

This is a very easy question but you must know the distance formula.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

dont know sorry

OpenStudy (meowlover17):

OpenStudy (anonymous):

The distance formula isn't necessary for this. Both sets of points have the same y, so the distance is the distance between the x's.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

still dont get it sorry @MeowLover17

OpenStudy (anonymous):

is there another way you can help me?

OpenStudy (meowlover17):

@LegendarySadist Good eye. thanks

OpenStudy (anonymous):

What's the distance between the -3 and 9?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

12?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

And that would be the answer. Remember this only applies if the sets of points have matching x or y points.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

sooooo 12

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Yes, it would be 12

OpenStudy (anonymous):

thx!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

No problem :)
