help plz

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Below are two different functions, f(x) and g(x). What can be determined about their slopes? f(x)= −1x + 1 The function g of x going through 0, 3 and 2, negative 1 The function f(x) has a larger slope. The function g(x) has a larger slope. They both have the same slope. The relationship between slopes cannot be determined.

@geerky42 do you know how to help me with this if you don't can you tag someone who can?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@hhelpplzzzz

geerky42 (geerky42):

Can you tell me the slope of f(x)?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

tbh idk like i would know how to answer it if you like guide me to it

geerky42 (geerky42):

Well. any line equation has form \(y = mx+b\) Here, m is slope and b is y-intercept. So in question, you have \(f(x) = -1x + 1\). Can you tell me what m is?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so the slope of f(x) is -1

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@geerky42

geerky42 (geerky42):

Sorry for late reply, but yes -1 Now for g(x), are you familiar with \(slope = \dfrac{rise}{run}\)?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

-2/1

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so basically -2

OpenStudy (anonymous):

and np for the late response i thought you left xD

geerky42 (geerky42):

Yes correct slope of g(x) is -2. Now which has larger slope?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

f(x) because its a -1

OpenStudy (anonymous):

okay then i pick A thank you so much!

geerky42 (geerky42):

No problem
