Salma photocopied the design for a monorail track system. The figure below shows the design and its photocopy: The ratio of DA : BC is 1 : 2. The total length of track on the design is 47 meters. What is the length, in meters, of side EH on the photocopied image?

Where's the figure?

OpenStudy (welshfella):

The design and the photocopy are congruent the length (DA + BC) = 47 - 15 - 17 = 47 - 32 = 15 Now using the Fact that DA:BC = 1:2 you can find the length of DA and BC EH is equal to length of AD.

OpenStudy (welshfella):

can you split up 15 into 2 numbers whose ratio is 1:2?

OpenStudy (welshfella):

one number will be 15 * 1/(1+2) and the other = 15* 2 (1+2)
