The base of that triangle is the length of the two cubes placed side by side, 12 + 5 = 17. The height of the triangle is found by finding the difference in the heights of the two cubes, so 12 - 5 = 7. Thus we have a right triangle with legs of 7 and 17. So from there we can just use pythagorean theorem to get the length of the hypotenuse, which would be AB
