Why did many reformers want to improve education in the United States in the early 1800s? A. New factories required educated, highly skilled workers. B. American democracy needed educated citizens. Since the 1830s was the beginning of the Industrial Revolution, competition in the workplace became high. Women running for office and foreign students is no where near this time period.
