please helpOn average, water flows over a particular water fall at a rate of 2.04 x 105 cubic feet per second. One cubic foot of water weighs 62.4 lb. Calculate the rate of water flow in tons of water per day. (1 ton = 2200 lb)

OpenStudy (wolf1728):

The rate is 2.04x10^5 cubic feet per second There are 86,400 seconds in a day. (60*60*24) So the flow rate per day is 2.04x10^5 * 86,400 = 17,625,600,000 cubic feet per day 17,625,600,000 * 62.4 makes that equal 1,099,837,440,000 pounds per day Dividing that by 2,200 makes that equal 499,926,109 tons per day (Incidentally, that is long tons) You said 2,200 pounds = a ton (a LONG ton actually) Usually a ton is stated as 2,000 pounds.
