Which of the following rules describes the function graphed below? http://media.education2020.com/evresources/4072-01-02-01-00_files/i0320000.jpg a. Output = Input c. Output = (0.5)(Input) + 1.5 b. Output = (2)(Input) – 3 d. Output = (1.5)(Input) + 3

Hi, Do you have some idea about straight lines ??

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I have no idea how input & output works

OpenStudy (anonymous):

remark that for input = -1 the output will be 1 and follow same step as i explane to you in the previous question

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Thats just it, I still dont know what Im doing

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so it s the second choice c. Output = (0.5)(Input) + 1.5

Basically any equation you read in mathematics is a function. Suppose there are 2 variables Say X and Y if change in one of them can cause a change in another then they are related to each other . See if u buy 3 chocolates (2$ per chocolate) then you have to pay 6$ . So in mathematical form they can be represented as Y=2X Where x is the price of chocolate and y is the quantity of chocolate. Now this is a real life example. If you understand this now lets move to your problem. The general equation of a line is given by Y=mX+C where Y is the where m is the slope of the line and C is the intercept it made with Y axis in Cartesian co-ordinate system. In your image file you can see that line is cutting Y axis at 1.5 (intercept) so 2nd option will be the correct choice ....... Hope this helps
