I need help please!!!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Compare the functions below: f(x) x y 0 −5 1 0 2 3 3 4 4 3 5 0 6 −5 g(x) = 4 cos(2x − π) − 2 h(x) = −(x − 5)2 + 3 Which function has the largest maximum? f(x) g(x) h(x) All three functions have the same maximum value.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@amistre64

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Hmm i think it's asking what has the biggest outcome

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Compare the functions below: f(x) x y 0 −5 1 0 2 3 3 4 4 3 5 0 6 −5 g(x) = 4 cos(2x − π) − 2 h(x) = −(x − 5)2 + 3 Which function has the largest maximum? f(x) g(x) h(x) All three functions have the same maximum value.

OpenStudy (sweetburger):

Alrighty so is h(x) written correctly? is the (x-5) squared or multiplied by 2

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Multiplied by two

OpenStudy (sweetburger):

so its a a straight line...

OpenStudy (sweetburger):

so to speak

OpenStudy (sweetburger):

obviously slanted going into the IVth quadrant

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I'm back

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Let me grapph it real quick

OpenStudy (sweetburger):

so the maximum for the 4cos(2x-pi)-2 is only 2 even smaller than f(x) maximum of 4

OpenStudy (sweetburger):

technically wouldnt the straight lline have a maximum of life x=-infinity

OpenStudy (sweetburger):

ya i knew it looked like that

OpenStudy (anonymous):

There's the graph where it show it slanting into 4th quadrant....Aight you faster than me:3

OpenStudy (sweetburger):

just what would u consider its maximum considering its D and R is All real numbers

OpenStudy (anonymous):

13 Would be it's maximum

OpenStudy (anonymous):

?

OpenStudy (sweetburger):

NO, thats for that graph

OpenStudy (sweetburger):

you set the graph values to only show from -13 to 13 believe me this is a straight line function and any x value you plug in your going to get a y value

OpenStudy (sweetburger):

are u sure that that (x-5) isnt squared

OpenStudy (anonymous):

So the line keeps going for a infinite maximum, I looked back at it and i believe (x-5)would be squared since it is after

OpenStudy (sweetburger):

sigh lol now its a parabola not a straight line XD

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Pfft your the smart one here, I think i should look back at the lesson again to review this

OpenStudy (sweetburger):

and that function Now has a definite maximum of 3

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ooooo okay

OpenStudy (sweetburger):

alright so f(x) has a maximum of 4 h(x) has a maximum of 3 and g(x) has a maximum of 2 now you pick which has the greatest maximum lol

OpenStudy (anonymous):

F(X) Obvo ....But i'm going to review this lesson again just to make sure i have everything down. Thanks for your time

OpenStudy (sweetburger):

np np gl with flvs
