Which set of word clues in the passage best helps the reader picture when the story takes place?

The solid, bullish wagon was moving forward with such dignity of motion that a glance from the covered back seemed simply to prove that lands he’d called home for so long were crawling to the east. Vast flats of green grass, dull-hued spaces of mesquite and cactus, little groups of frame houses, woods of light and tender trees—all were shrinking slowly into the horizon, slipping away as into a precipice. The scenery washed over him as he moved toward a new land, a new ocean, a new life. Gold! He just knew it was waiting for him.

I don't think it's A or D. I would go with C, It says new ocean.
