OpenStudy (anonymous):

for f(x)=2x+1 and g(x)=x3-7, find(f*g)(x).

OpenStudy (anonymous):

thx but i also wanted to learn how to work out the problem so id be able to do it own my own

OpenStudy (anonymous):

does that * symbol look more like a lowercase o?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

sorta it a multiplication sign

OpenStudy (anonymous):

like (f o g)(x)?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

oo then no

OpenStudy (anonymous):

like "f of g of x?" does that sound familiar?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

not really i just staarted taking the class online so there no help for me relly

OpenStudy (anonymous):

hmm ok i think that is what it means, it basically means to take f(x) and for the input use g(x) so it would look like this f(g(x))

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so do you see how g(x) = x^3 - 7, you would plug x^3 - 7 in everywhere you see an x in f(x)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

does that make sense?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yea it does

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok cool, post your answer if you want to make sure, i will let you know if you got it

OpenStudy (anonymous):

and i would multiply every thing were x was

OpenStudy (anonymous):

dont multiply just plug in

OpenStudy (anonymous):

post what you get
