scatter plot help???
Sure, what's the Q? :)
http://gyazo.com/9d7806cc31865f7ac997e0f53c9e42e4 the scatter plot, http://gyazo.com/6934b7547dd1e72ac93cbbcb55d6cf22 the question.
The observed values are the actual dots on the graph while the predicted values are the corresponding point on the line. The residual is the difference between these 2 values.
so how would i do it
Read the values off the graph what is the plotted point for monthly heating cost for 25.4 degrees?
51.00
right - its on the table as well as the graph now you cant read the cost accurately from the line so use the equation
but with the equation im confused. wht am i supposed to finding from the eqaution?
monthly cost y = -1.1 x + 90.51 replace x by 25.4 and calculate y
62.57
y = -1.1 * 25.4 + 90.51 it should come to approximately 62
- right that was fast
should i put 62 or 62.57
put 62.57
okay i did that
now the residual is the difference to be honest i'm not sure which one is subtracted - I think its 62.57 - 51.00
okay 11.57
yes
- the cost was less than expected so that's 11.57 in your pocket - right?
yeah. so i did the same for the bottom question
would you mind helping me with another?
ok but i have to go in 10 minuets
ok illl post it fast

predicted score for no time studying is y = 3.83(0) + 15,68
so 15.68?
for 1 hour of study y = 3.83 + 15.68 answer = this value - value for no stusying
for 12 hours of study y = 3.83(12) + 15.68
so my answers are 15.68 3.84 and 61.65
second one is 3.83 yes
- other 2 are right
gotta go now hoped you have learned something
