OpenStudy (anonymous):

8x + 2(x – 7) = 7x + 3x – 14 Solve the equation and write the number of solutions. Show all the steps.

OpenStudy (superhelp101):

the first step would be to distribute the 2 into the (x-7)

OpenStudy (superhelp101):

did u get 8x+2x-14=7x+3x-14 ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes

OpenStudy (superhelp101):

great! Next we would combine the like terms so it would like: 10x-14=10x-14 (I just added the 8x and 2x on the first half and added 7x and 3x on the second half)

OpenStudy (superhelp101):

Since the 10x-14 equals 10x-14 that means all real numbers is the answer.

OpenStudy (superhelp101):

Does that make sense? :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so it has infinite solutions

OpenStudy (superhelp101):

yes
