An image of a prism is shown below: A square prism is shown. Part A: A cross section of the prism is cut with a plane parallel to the base. What is the name of the shape created by the cross-section? (5 points) Part B: If a cross section of the prism is cut diagonal to the base, what would be the shape of the resulting cross section? (5 points)

OpenStudy (nuccioreggie):

@Rhystic

OpenStudy (rhystic):

just cut the diagram and find a listing of 3 dimensional shapes. For the first one as you don't know where you're cutting you aren't sure if you are making a cube as a cube has all equal sides so you have a cuboid. Do the same for the second.

OpenStudy (nuccioreggie):

So whats the answer for a and b @Rhystic

OpenStudy (nuccioreggie):

@phi

OpenStudy (phi):

they are asking what is the shape of the "top" of the prism. Or if you cut it in half, and look down on it, what shape do you see?

OpenStudy (nuccioreggie):

Ki know can you explain the answer to me please @phi
