let's pick a random point, say point C (1, 18) (1, 18) means x = 1 and y = 18 Plug those two values into the equation y = 17x 18 = 17*1 ... replace x with 1, replace y with 18 18 = 17 ... this is false Since 18 = 17 is false, this means (1,18) does NOT satisfy y = 17x So that's why C is eliminated as a possible answer choice
