What are some ways that Paramecium Aurelia contribute to the environment?
@jpaulkai What is your view,....Please share... !!
Hint: Paramecia are widespread in freshwater, brackish, and marine environments and are often very abundant in stagnant basins and ponds.
@JoshKoikkara Well all I can figure is that they eat bacteria so maybe that could be a big contribution
@jpaulkai You are close by...try again !!
@JoshKoikkara I found that paramecia "are attracted by acidic conditions, since they feed on bacteria, which often slightly acidify their surroundings. They are an important link in the detrital food web in aquatic ecosystems, feeding on bacteria and dead organic matter often associated with these bacteria, and being preyed upon by protists and small animals." http://www.newworldencyclopedia.org/entry/Paramecium
Is that what you were thinking about?
Almost right... what about their contributions towards nature like Paramecia play a role in the carbon cycle because the bacteria they eat are often found on decaying plants.or Paramecia can be used as model organisms in research.... I wonder, is there any need for me...? when you Know the answer ? Nice To Meet You !! Cheers !!
