Write an equation of a line that passes through the point (2, 3) and is parallel to the line y = 3 over 2x + 5

OpenStudy (anonymous):

y = negative 2 over 3x y = negative 2 over 3x − 7 y = 3 over 2x y = 3 over 2x + 7

OpenStudy (rhystic):

so first for two parallel lines they must have the same slope the standard equation for a line is y = mx + b where m is the slope. in your case its 3/2 thus your parallel line equation must contain 3/2. Next you would take that equation plug in the x value (2) and solve if you come out for 3 with y then that is your answer.
