I really need help with this essay!!!
this is what I have now... Makayla Smock Mr. Finch One of the hardest things for children is when parents split up. People may say that it won't cause any problems, but they don’t realize that it really does. It can cause emotional damage not only to the child, but to the parents as well. Even though divorce is becoming more and more common in families today, It still doesn’t stop the harm that it causes. More than half of marriages end in divorce. As parents work out a schedule to prevent the pain of the divorce on their children, they still don’t realize how much harm it causes. As things seem to be running smoothly shortly after the divorce, in the long run, children become more affected by it. Professor of psychology at University of Wisconsin E., Mavis Hetherington states that “Twenty-five percent of youths from divorced families in comparison to 10 percent from non-divorced families did have serious social, emotional, or psychological problems.” (Bryant). Hetherington briefly states that there is a more likely chance of children from a broken up family have a higher ¨risk of premature sex, sexualy transmitted desease, and teen pregnancy¨ (Bryant). A long term effect, according to Judith Wallerstein, from the University of California suggest that ¨most adults who were children of divorce experience serious problems such as depression and relationship issues.¨ (Arkowitz, Lilienfeld). Younger children often feel like they have to take on more responsibilities around the household and often feel less cared for. Kids will seem to have recover from a divorce but later on in life they might suffer from the ¨sleeper effect¨. Because of the denied feelings from a divorce, those denied feelings may sprout up at a later time and seriously affect them. Not only is the child affected by the divorce, but the parents are too. The children can act out against the parents both emotionally and physically. Parents are often distanced from the child. Richard Weissbourd, a child and family psychologist on the faculty of Harvard's Kennedy School of Government and School of Education states that I really need help!!!

How much do you need to write?
What you could talk on more would be like, the long-term effects, rather than just statistics, you could write about people who came from divorced homes and how it effected their life. What that pain led them to do. Or possibly what the psychological repercussions could be for that pain.
