@mathstudent55

OpenStudy (anonymous):

\[x^2 = 64 \implies x = \pm 8\]

OpenStudy (donnie1999):

so is it 32?

OpenStudy (donnie1999):

@iambatman

OpenStudy (anonymous):

\(\pm\) means plus minus \(\pm8\) is defined as \(+8,-8\)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

to see why, test what is \((-8)^2\)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Sorry to confuse you donnie, yes what jenny said :)

OpenStudy (donnie1999):

its 64

OpenStudy (donnie1999):

@jenny1994 so would the answer be -8,8

OpenStudy (anonymous):

batman gave you your answer, it's \pm8 or 8,-8 if you're only given positive choices, then it's just 8

OpenStudy (donnie1999):

lol that's what I thought it was since the begging
