Why aren't we allowed to post external links in the chats?
I got warned for linking to youtube in the math chat. Why aren't we allowed to do that?
I think its cause the links may have dirty content, I don't really know..
That's what I was wondering also... I mean I posted a link like this ( http://prntscr.com/7fzlc8 ) and got a warning, twice!
And @DarthVader2900, that isn't the main reason... However it could be...
www.whoknows.com
i was suspenended for not using the apeal prodccess when there no longer is one LOL
LOL!
I do not think there is a problem if the link is educational. However you did agree when you signed up for the site that you will not post 3 party content on the site. (inappropriate) http://prntscr.com/7g02kz Also mods do not have control of what happens on the given site. So if something goes wrong OS mods cannot do anything.
how do you know who suspended you ?
^good question. Heres a kicker xD some words of Preetha's "There is no need. Would you get angry if someone gave you a gift? Think of it as a gift. A precious gift that helps you do better in life. All the mods are doing what they do because they love OS. They want to help it. They care about you. Do we pay them? No. And yet they pour their time into it. They are amazing. As are you. You pour your time into OS. You are wonderful. And we want to you become leaders, experts, successful mathematicians, engineers, artists, writers,...So thank the mod next time they warn you. You just received an important lesson from someone who cares about your success."
I am asking how jaynator, poopsie and others are able to list the frequency of suspensions by a specific mod
They dont know. Unless theres only one mod on.
Ahh okay they must be just guessing
So basically they are doing nothing but blaming the mod. Unless the mod has pm'ed them
right :)
I've seen some moderators who do post youtube links in chat.
I just want an actual answer to my question tho like, from a mod
The code of conduct restricts third party content being posted in the chat. Openstudy cannot verify or check each link, and it puts users at risk.
Hi @poopsiedoodle ! I understand your concern and answer to your question is already given by one of the moderators (perl). Though it has some exception. You can indeed post external educational links while trying to answer or explain any question.
^ I would also like to add to that. In posts it's allowed (educational ones.) However links in chats such as other links leading to external chats and non-educational ones have been deemed by mods and admins not needed as it leads to sites that mods don't have control of. "upload, post, transmit, share, store or otherwise make available content that, \(in~the~sole~judgment~of~Company\), is objectionable or which restricts or inhibits any other person from using or enjoying the Site, or which may expose Company or its Users to any harm or liability of any type." http://openstudy.com/terms-and-conditions
It's not suggested to discuss any issue with moderators on a post. If anyone has any personal issue with a particular moderator then they must use abuse@openstudy.com. Nothing less nothing more.
