linear functions!! need help. please.

linear function mean "line"
and a line means the slope between any two points is the same
in other words, change in y divided by change in x is the same for any pair of points.

one way to test if the slope is the same is notice:
when x goes up by 1 step, what does y do?
for example from (-3,-3) to (-2, 0)
the x goes up (from -3 to -2)
y goes up by 3 (from -3 to 0)
now check the next points. Does y go up by 3 ?
if so you have a line.
