HELP HELP HELP PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE

OpenStudy (liv1234):

OpenStudy (confluxepic):

I assume it makes a right angle because line AB is tangent. I believe you could solve this using the Pythagoras Theorem.

OpenStudy (liv1234):

Can you help me solve it?

OpenStudy (confluxepic):

Sure. :)

OpenStudy (confluxepic):

\(\Huge a^2+b^2=c^2\)

OpenStudy (liv1234):

So, 6^2+11.7^2=C^2?

OpenStudy (confluxepic):

a and b are the two sides and c is the hypotenuse.

OpenStudy (confluxepic):

a and b are the two sides that make a right angle.

OpenStudy (confluxepic):

AO would be the hypotenuse.

OpenStudy (liv1234):

So, how would I put that into an equation? And by the way, thank you for your help, I appreciate it.(:

OpenStudy (confluxepic):

a=6 as in the question. b is unknown. c is the hypotenuse. In other words it is AO and its value is 11.7 as mentioned in the question.

OpenStudy (liv1234):

Ohh. So, the answer would be 6^2+11.7^2?

OpenStudy (confluxepic):

\(\Huge 6^2+b^2=11.7^2\)

OpenStudy (liv1234):

\[6^2+11^2\]

OpenStudy (liv1234):

oops, I messed up.

OpenStudy (confluxepic):

I just substituted the values to where they belong.

OpenStudy (liv1234):

Oh, so it would be C?

OpenStudy (confluxepic):

Can you tell me how you got C as the answer?

OpenStudy (liv1234):

Yes, so I put in what 11.7^2 was and got 136.89. Then I put in 6^2+10.0^2 and got 136.

OpenStudy (confluxepic):

Correct but you did it the wrong way. The correct way it to do \(11^2-6^2=x^2\).

OpenStudy (liv1234):

Can you help me with another question?(:

OpenStudy (liv1234):

Nnesha (nnesha):

|dw:1434216486710:dw| this straight line add up to 180 degree

Nnesha (nnesha):

set an equation |dw:1434216532709:dw| \[\huge\rm 50+90+x=180\] solve for x

OpenStudy (liv1234):

@Nnesha I got 230 for the answer, can you help me with another??

Nnesha (nnesha):

impossible ! i told you straight line add up to 180 degree all 3 angles should add up to 180 degree

OpenStudy (liv1234):

So, 38?

Nnesha (nnesha):

typo it's 92 \[\huge\rm 50+92+x=180\] solve for x

Nnesha (nnesha):

yep

OpenStudy (liv1234):

So, it's 38. And can you help me with another question?

Nnesha (nnesha):

i'll try

OpenStudy (liv1234):

OpenStudy (liv1234):

@Nnesha

OpenStudy (liv1234):

Can someone help?

OpenStudy (liv1234):

@Nnesha
