For what values of x is the rational expression below undefined? x-7/2x^2-32? a.2 b.-2 c.-4 d.-7 e.7 f.4

OpenStudy (freckles):

solve the bottom=0 2x^2-32=0 (I assume you meant (x-7)/(2x^2-32)

OpenStudy (usukidoll):

you also need to factor first before solving.

OpenStudy (ehsan18):

its option c and f

OpenStudy (anonymous):

d

OpenStudy (mathstudent55):

In your expression, the only thing that can cause an undefined value is division by zero. Therefore, if the denominator of the expression equals zero, you'd be dividing by zero, which is an undefined operation. In order to find which values of x would cause division by zero, set the denominator equal to zero, and solve that equation for x. Those values of x cause the expression to be undefined. (Hint: there may be more than one answer.)
