Water has a density of 1000 kg/m^3. If a solid block with a density of 2500 kg/m^3 is thrown into a pool, will it float?

OpenStudy (irishboy123):

ask yourself this: which one will *gravity* pull on the most. A) a block of density 2500 kg/m^3 or B) an equivalent volume of water of density 1000 kg/m^3. because that is precisely what is happening here.

Depends

The block will most definitely sink. :) hope this helps!
