Which uses the correct modifiers for formal writing? Turn right at the next corner and then stop quickly because that's where I live. Turn right at the next corner and then stop quick because that's where I live.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Modifier means it's describing another word in the sentence. What do you think quick/quickly is modifying?

OpenStudy (kyanthedoodle):

Quick would be incorrect because it's an adjective, not an adverb. Quickly is describing the verb, stop, correctly.
