Why might the French have identified with Napoleon more than their previous kings?

i think Napoleon's rise from soldier to emperor meant it was possible for anyone to be a leader.

Napoleon by no means was more liked by the French citizens then the other kings were. After the French Revolution he reinstated almost everything the French had worked so hard to tear down. However, he wanted to be a superior power of Europe and wanted to bring the French's enemies to their knees, the British, and the citizens were fully behind him on that aspect.
