OpenStudy (pinkroses15):

How does primary and secondary succession change ecosystems? Can you provide an example?

OpenStudy (barreraa):

Primary succession occurs on newly formed land such as a volcano. No organic content and organisms are present at the beginning. It is a relatively slow process. Secondary succession occurs on previously occupied land such as an area that has been devastated by a forest fire. Soil with organic content is found on this piece of land and organisms may be present at the beginning. This process is faster than primary succession. @pinkroses15
