Hi, do yo uhave any idea how to approach these problems?
For the first problem you first have to think about what you can do in order to cancel one of the terms and then solve for the remaining term.
3x -9y = 3
6x - 3y = -24
you can either multiply the first equation by -2 to cancel the 6x upon addition of the two equations or you can also multiple the second equation by -3 to cancel out the y term upon addition.

so here we have
-2(3x -9y = 3 )
-6x + 18y = -6
+(6x - 3y = -24 )
15y=-30
y=-2

plug this into one of the equations to find x
6x - 3y = -24
6x - 3(-2) = -24
6x + 6= -24
6x = -30
x = -5

For the triangle problem, write out a system of two equations.
the equation for the second triangle is 3x + 5/4y + 5/4y = 21
which simplifies to 3x + 10/4 y = 21
while the eq for the first triangle is x + 2y = 14.
This is your system of equations!
Try to cancel one of the terms yourself and solve like normal.
hint( multiply the first equation by -3).
