How does salinity influence life in aquatic ecosystems?

If the salinity of the organism's surroundings increases then the osmotic pressure increases as well. This traduces into a series of adaptations for that organism. The organism would be hypotonic in comparison with it's surrounding therefore it will loose water, which can cause dehydration. Because of this the organism will develop ways in which to retain water like: producing concentrated urine, excreting salts and drinking more water. @pinkroses15
