you can use the relation between \(sin(\beta)\), the hypothenuse \(BC\) and the side \(AC\): \[\sin(\beta)=\frac{AC}{BC}\]

the angle \(\beta=45º\) in this problem, and \(AC=17ft\), you can use those values and find \(BC\), it is pretty straightforward...
