Help needed Here e_e Complete the equation of the linear function. y = ___x + ____ Fill in the Blanks
Okay, so do you know the basics of solving linear functions?
Srry to say but no i don't, i kinda wasn't paying attention in that class -_-
Oh my.. Lol, well I'l guess I'll teach you. So you know what coordinates are right? Like x-intercept and y-intercept?
Yeah
The equation you're trying to solve is basically finding those, and the slope of the line. the equation is y=mx+b Which is slope-intercept form
m= slope b= y intercept x= variable Look at the graph and where the line intersects on the y axis (Positive 4) and then the next (x,y) intercept ( In this case it's (-1, 1))
Do you get where I'm going with this?
I think i got the answer
basically to find a line in \[\mathbb{R}^2\] you need 2 points (or the amount of coordinates for general spaces). So you need to find two points through which the line passes. You know that it goes from \[(-2,-2)\rightarrow(-1,1)\] Now you gotta solve the equation y=mx+b turns out good since you have two points (two equations) and two unknowns (m and b) To find m, just use \[m=\frac{y_2-y_1}{x_2-x_1}\], where those are the respective coordinates y and x of both points we found earlier. Now that you know m, we only need b For this, use y=mx+b and subsitute there (x,y) of either poitns and the m Lets take point (-2,-2) -> -2=m(-2)+b b=-2+2m thats it, so find m then b

one sec
Okay....is it 3 and 4?
Yassssss :D Nice job!
Yes! Thx for the help ^_^
Anytime!
By the way, welcome to Openstudy!!
Thank you :)
I got 9/10 :D again thx for the help
