What is the value of the expression shown below? 6 + (9 − 1) 2 ÷ 4 ⋅ 1 over 2 whole to the power of 4 7 9 18 22

OpenStudy (anonymous):

actually the expression is 6 + (9 - 1)^2 ÷ 4 ⋅ 1/2^4

OpenStudy (starwars18):

PEMDAS

OpenStudy (starwars18):

parentheses first, then exponents, then multiplication/division, then addition/subtraction

OpenStudy (starwars18):

So you get 9-1 is 8, squared is 64. then the 1/2 to the 4th simplifies to 1/16. Then 64/4 is 16. 16 * 1/16 is 1. 6 + 1 = 7. 7 is your answer.
