geerky42 (geerky42):

Rearrange y term in second equation; \(x = 3y+4\) Now subtract equations: \[\begin{array} ~~~~~~~~x = 4y+6\\\underline{-~~~~x=3y+4}\\~~~~~~~~0 = y + 2 \end{array}\] Subtract both sides by 2; \(y = -2\) Now plug y = -2 into either first or second equation and solve for x.
