Describe how some cells came to have chloroplasts, according to the theory of endosymbiosis.
because they engulfed a photosynthetic prokaryote
Can you elaborate more? @BioMarija
On it's evolution from prokaryote to eukaryote, after the membrane invagination, the ancestral prokaryote cell first engulfed an aerobic prokaryote that later evolved in mitochondria. and that is where it stops for the animal cell. the ancestor of the plant cell engulfed a photosynthetic prokaryote that evolved in chloroplast.
a photosynthetic prokaryote too *
