OpenStudy (anonymous):

he circle has a diameter of 16 inches. What is the area of the circle?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@aloud

OpenStudy (anonymous):

201.06in²

OpenStudy (godlovesme):

area of a circle= pi * r^2 but in this case we have diameter instead of radius

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yea im right

OpenStudy (godlovesme):

we can find the radius by dividing the diameter by 2 r= 16/2 = 8 A= 3.14 * 8^2 A= 3.14 * 64 A= 200. 96

OpenStudy (godlovesme):

u used an online calculator

OpenStudy (godlovesme):

how did we get a different answer o_O

OpenStudy (anonymous):

me

OpenStudy (anonymous):

which one right ?

OpenStudy (godlovesme):

@LegendarySadist what do u say?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

look first you have to find the formula right

OpenStudy (godlovesme):

the formula is area = pi * r^2

OpenStudy (anonymous):

It just depends on how they want you to write it/what to use for pi. You could write the answer as \(64\pi\), \(200.96\), or \(201.06\) depending on what you use for pi.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

a=2 pic square

OpenStudy (godlovesme):

ohhh i see @LegendarySadist thanks for clearing that up for us (: @kyrabaaker do they give u a specific pi to use?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

then you will identify so the d=16

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yall dont care its 201.06in²
