Medals and fan!! :) log2(x)+log2(x+2) =3 I factored to get x^2+2x-8=0 but i dont know if im right? The answer is 2 at the back of the tb but i am unaware on how to reach that?? Help please

OpenStudy (mertsj):

Factor x^2+2x-8 into (X+4)(x-2)

but how come the answer is just 2 and not 2 and -4? @Mertsj

OpenStudy (mertsj):

Can't be -4 because 2 to any power is a positive number. In other words, the argument cannot be negative.
