You need to take left and right sided limits to make sure they're the same. If you get the same answer, that's the limit. If not, the limit does not exist. Because those are both polynomials, this boils down to substituting -5 into both parts of the function and checking to see if you get the same thing.

so if you plug in -5 in each you get -1 and 9. which are not the same
