medal! 15. Which represents the solution to the absolute value equation? 5l2x-4l+1=11 A. x=1 or x=3 B. x=1 or x=-3 C. x=3 or x=-3 D. x=6 or x=1

OpenStudy (zeesbrat3):

A

OpenStudy (jessiegonzales):

can u show your steps

OpenStudy (zeesbrat3):

Of course!

OpenStudy (zeesbrat3):

Since it is absolute value, you will of course have two answers. All you have to do, is think of the 2x-4 like it is in parenthesis. So, the first equation is going to be 5(2x-4)+1=11. For that, solve for x. To get the second equation, flip the signs of the expression in the absolute value bars, 2x-4. It will become -2x+4 and solve for that. So, your second equation will be 5(-2x+4)+1=11

OpenStudy (zeesbrat3):

Does that make sense?

OpenStudy (jessiegonzales):

yes thanks
