two storage sheds are to have the same area. one is square and one is rectangular shed is 2 meters wide and 32meters long. how large is one side of the square shed in meters?

OpenStudy (misssunshinexxoxo):

The area of shed 1 is 64meters^2. Because 2m • 32m= 64m^2. The area of shed 2 is equal to shed 1, making the square a total of 64m^2. And because it is a square, we can conclude that the sides are all equal, meaning that the square root of the area is the length of a side of shed 1. One side of shed 1 is 8meters in length, because the square root of 64 is 8: 64^(1/2) = 8 • 8
