Equation C: y=2x+8 Equation D: y=2x+2 Which of the following best describes the solution to the given set of equations No solution? One solution? Two solutions Infinite Solutions?

Vocaloid (vocaloid):

the equations are both solved for y, so we can set them equal to each other 2x + 8 = 2x + 2 what happens when we subtract 2x from each side?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

doesn't it cancel ?

Vocaloid (vocaloid):

good! after we take away 2x from each side we're left with 8 = 2 which is a false statement, meaning that there are no solutions (there is no value we can plug in to make the statement true!)
