angle f = 45
angle e = 90 Therefore,
angle d = 180-45 -90
angle d = 45
Therefore we are dealing with a 45 45 90 triangle
OpenStudy (mckenzieandjesus):
Okay what does that mean?
OpenStudy (mckenzieandjesus):
how do i find the answer?
OpenStudy (wolf1728):
I'll tell you - give me a minute or 2 to type it

ok
OpenStudy (wolf1728):
Triangle DEF is a right triangle with DF as the hypotenuse and DE and EF are the legs
According to the Pythagorean Theorem
DF^2 = DE^2 + EF^2
It is a 45 45 90 triangle, leg DE = EF so we can say
DF^2 = 2* DE^2
16^2 = 2 * DE^2
256 = 2* DE^2
128 = DE^2
DE = 11.313708499
and since DE = EF
EF = 11.313708499
OpenStudy (mckenzieandjesus):
So what would the answer be? the choices i have are: 8 check mark thing 2, 16 check mark thing 2, 128 and 16
OpenStudy (wolf1728):
I'm guessing the "check mark thing" probably means "square root"
Does it look like this √ ?
OpenStudy (mckenzieandjesus):
