quadratic formula x^2-10+22=-2

OpenStudy (anonymous):

OpenStudy (anonymous):

where did i go wrong?

Vocaloid (vocaloid):

you have to add 2 to both sides to make the right side = 0 x^2-10+22=-2 x^2-10+22+2=-2+2 x^2-10+24=0 THEN you can use the formula like you did :)

Vocaloid (vocaloid):

a = 1, b = -10, c = 24, and you can do the rest from there, correct?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

oh so for all the quadratic equations u even it out?

Vocaloid (vocaloid):

yup, you've got to make sure that ax^2 + bx + c = 0 first

OpenStudy (anonymous):

but for this one its already 0 so where did i go wrong?

Vocaloid (vocaloid):

look at the b^2 part you found that b = 8, but you forgot to square it b^2 = 64

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so would it be

OpenStudy (anonymous):

cuz u cant have a - square rroot

Vocaloid (vocaloid):

hold on a sec, let me draw it out

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok wait howd u get 64

Vocaloid (vocaloid):
