Find the area of each figure. Round to the nearest hundreth.

OpenStudy (astrophysics):

Area of circle is just \[A = \pi r^2\]

OpenStudy (astrophysics):

Or you can use \[A = \frac{ 1 }{ 4 }\pi d^2 \implies \frac{ 1 }{ 4 } \pi (6 \sqrt{2})^2\]

OpenStudy (astrophysics):

So \[(6\sqrt{2})^2 = (6\sqrt{2})(6\sqrt{2}) = 36 \times 2 = 72\]

OpenStudy (astrophysics):

Finish it off

I'm having a hard time with it. What would be my next step because. I tried multiplying by pi but I get too large of an answer. The answer is suppose to be 56.55

OpenStudy (astrophysics):

\[A = \frac{ 72 }{ 4 } \times \pi\]

OpenStudy (astrophysics):

I was just showing you how to simplify the \[(6\sqrt{2})^2\] earlier as above, you just had to plug the value back into the formula.
