Hey there.
First of all, it is important to know that acid rain is causes by expellition of malefic gases from factories, burning of fossil fuels and other pollutants. Developed countries are more responsibile  for this and we are encompassing USA, Finland, Germany, Poland, Russia, Uk.
As a result, I believe saying northern hemisphere is more encompassing and precise.
