Compare the area of the black circle to the area of the square without the black circle. Visually it would appear that there is less black area than white, so the probability of hitting black is less than 50%. This means that this probability is closer to 0 than to 1. The same line-of-thinking leads us to the observation that the probability of hitting white is greater than 50% and thus closer to 1 than to 0.
