OpenStudy (loser66):

Show your work, please

OpenStudy (anonymous):

area of the rectangle prism=2(7*3+16*7+16*3) =362 in^2 area of prism=3*6+5*6+6*6+1/2*2*5*3 =99 in^2 so total area=99+362

OpenStudy (anonymous):

???

OpenStudy (sdfgsdfgs):

the two triangle pieces "1/2*2*5*3" are double-counted....looking at the shape and remember it is ONE pieces....

OpenStudy (anonymous):

im not getting it ..

OpenStudy (sdfgsdfgs):

bottom of the triangular prism is attached to the top of the rectangluar prism....with me so far?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok

OpenStudy (sdfgsdfgs):

so for the one top triangle, its area should be counted.... but it can also be used to fill the bottom triangular hole on the rectangular prizm. So "the two triangle pieces "1/2*2*5*3" are double-counted" and the ans should be 446 instead :)
