what two numbers multiply to equal -15 and add to be 2

OpenStudy (campbell_st):

since the sum of the 2 terms in positive, the larger factor is positive and the smalller factor is negative so list the factors of 15.... the look at the pairs, larger positive smaller negative.. which pair add to 2...?

OpenStudy (study_together):

-3 and 5. Medal please!

OpenStudy (chrisdbest):

The answer is 5 and -3

OpenStudy (chrisdbest):

When you multiply 5 and -3, you get -15. When you add 5 and -3, you get +2

OpenStudy (campbell_st):

It's very good that you know the answer, but Open Study is about helping understanding, rather than giving answers. @Study_together
