Use the following scenario to answer the question: A bag contains 5 green marbles, 4 red marbles, 7 blue marbles, and 9 yellow marbles. What are the odds of drawing a yellow marble? a. 1/4 b. 16/25 c. 9/25 d. 9/16

OpenStudy (sloppycanada):

Ooooo Probability. Okay - how many marbles are there?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I would go with C. sense there are 25 marbles it can't be A. or D. And it would make sense to go with C. because there are 9 yellow marbles.

thankyou !

OpenStudy (anonymous):

No problem!

OpenStudy (sloppycanada):

It's D! Odds is different than probability

OpenStudy (anonymous):

oh ok thankyou !

OpenStudy (sloppycanada):

Odds = Odds of an event = number of ways the event can occur : number of ways it can't occur In other words - successes : failures

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Oh I see my mistake. Thank you for fixing that :)

OpenStudy (sloppycanada):

No problem, @gaby565 It's a confusing thing odds vs probability. You'd hope they'd be the same.
