A tanker ship is rammed by an iceberg and leaks. The oil it carried has a density of 0.92 g/ml. Which life forms will be most affected: those that live near the surface or bottom dwellers? How can the mess be cleaned up?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Well, life forms that live near the surface would be most affected as the density of the oil is 0.92 g/ml (things with a density below 1.0 cm usually floats on water). However, Bottom dwellers will also be affected since the oil prevents oxygen from going into the water or minimizes the amount of carbon dioxide from escaping. Basically both life forms either near the or bottom dwellers are affected.
