Why does acid that had been accidentally spilled on a book cover and causes the color of the ink to change?

As the acid changed the colour of the ink, we can take it as a relatively strong acid. Such acids are corrosive; They have the capability of deteriorating molecular arrangements of a particular matter and as that happens, it disturbs the molecular arrangement of the original colour of the object, turning into a different colour.
